‘SKULLS + SEEDS’ explores biodiversity loss and conservation in the Anthropocene, the impacts of the catastrophic 2020 Bushfires and invasive species. Sifting through the ashes of 10 million hectares, we must balance the immense scale of loss with the necessity of conserving what remains. As eucalypts sprouted fresh, green epicormic hope, we’re reminded of Nature’s ability to recover. However, Australia’s biodiversity is being eroded from all sides and left unchecked, a new nature will fill the void. We sit on a precipice of mass extinction and must choose to plant seeds of hope for Australia’s rich, native biosphere.
